Enhancing each day for each individual.
At Thompson Community Services (TCS), our experienced, caring staff members are our greatest asset and the reason for our outstanding service to individuals and their families. TCS's unique process ensure every member is assessed by a senior member of the team, leading to more accurate assessments and better outcomes.
TCS was created with a commitment for providing quality community care for every individual and his or her family. After being in leadership positions for the previous 30 years, I assumed ownership of the agency in 2008. Leading TCS as the CEO has been an extremely rewarding experience for me. With the assistance of a very able and dedicated management team and staff members, we have been able to develop services that I believe are very responsive and of the highest quality. I am proud of our agency and the work that we do.
At TCS we are constantly exploring new models of service delivery in order to address the changing needs of individuals. We pride ourselves on being able to respond quickly, efficiently and effectively to individuals with increasingly complex issues.
We are a value driven organization. Our services focus on the gifts, skills and assets of individuals, families and communities. We appreciate and embrace the cultural differences of individuals. We believe that people who will be directly affected by a decision must have a part in its creation. We welcome and encourage the input and involvement of families and support networks into every aspect of their loved ones lives. We believe that individuals, families and communities have the capacity and strength to deal with their own issues. We believe that lasting solutions are found within welcoming communities. One of our strengths is our innovative, creative and flexible approach. Our goal is to provide solutions to individuals, communities and to Community Living BC. We continuously develop the skills and abilities of our highly-committed staff members to meet the requirements and challenges of supporting individuals. They are our most valuable asset!
Our mission is simple: To enhance each day for each individual.
Since supporting our first individual in Kamloops in 1984, TCS has expanded to offer our services in a number of communities in British Columbia. Our commitment is to respond effectively to the needs of the communities that we serve. To this end we operate a regional service delivery model. This model allows us to know and respond to the needs of each community, to know the individuals, their families and their issues and to advocate for them. We are able to ‘tailor’ programs to the unique circumstance of individuals and of communities. One of the most important components of a regional model is our ability to develop relationships with individuals, families and stakeholders.

My daughter has lived in the Dufferin home, managed by Thompson Community Services, for 18 years. As a parent I can rely on the care provided by staff at the home, the day program and the office. They do live out their motto, to provide individualized, solution-based services.
